On the weekend of 28 - 30 March, Breogfjell invites you to a top touring course in Myrkdalen. Learn about equipment, trip planning and avalanche safety with experienced instructors.

Information

The course is perfect for those who want to explore the mountains outside of the ski resorts.

You will learn about the right equipment, trip planning and what to think about when being in an avalanche terrain, as well as understanding how different snow conditions affect the terrain. The course focuses on practical learning, and lets you test your new skills and knowledge in the winter mountains.

There is a free ski bus from Voss, which corresponds with trains from Oslo and Bergen. See timetables here.

Packing list

  • Alpine touring skis (Randonée), telemark skis, or splitboard
  • Ski boots
  • Poles
  • Crampons (optional)
  • Transceiver (avalanche beacon), shovel, and probe
  • 30-40L backpack
  • Sunglasses
  • Goggles / ski goggles
  • Thermos with hot drink and packed lunch
  • Clothing suitable for a day in the winter mountains
  • Insulating base layer (preferably wool)
  • Windproof/waterproof outer layer
  • Hat
  • Gloves/mittens
  • Insulating jacket (down, primaloft, or wool)

Breogfjell offers rental of avalanche equipment, including beacon, probe, and shovel.
