With its tradition dating back to 1866 and the beautiful, central location in Sandane in the Nordfjord area, historic Gloppen Hotel offers a unique hospitality experience. The tradition of salmon fishing lies in our hearts, but you can enjoy a vast choice of other activities too.

The river Gloppenelva is famous for its richness in fish, such as salmon and trout. Already in the 19th century English lords used to come to the area to enjoy fishing and that is where the hotel’s roots are. In 1904, Gloppen was mentioned in the English guidebook “Salmon fishing in Norway” as one of the best places to fish in the whole country.

Our rooms

The hotel consists of 61 rooms from three different centuries. There are 17 historic rooms, each with an individual character and charm, 24 Nordic rooms in modern, Scandinavian design, as well as 20 standard double and single rooms. All rooms are equipped with comfortable beds, bedlinen, coffee machines and tv.

Restaurant Stovene and Kjellaren pub

Feel welcome and invited to try the best local food from Nordfjord, fresh and delicious. Our chef Bodil is a true ambassador of the Norwegian farmers and their produce, and we are proud to say that most of our ingredients comes from less than 10 kilometres from the hotel!

Gloppen brygg started in our own cellar as Norway’s smallest microbrewery. Gloppen Brygg produces tasty beer that you can enjoy in our hotel restaurant or Kjellaren pub. There are three unique beers and each of them has a distinctive taste that all beer-lovers will appreciate.
