Fjellstova Vetlebotn Café

From the top of the chairlift, it is popular to follow the gravel road for approx. 1 kilometre downhill to Fjellstova Vetlebotn café for something to eat or drink. The café offers tasty, traditional food based on local produce. From Vetlebotn, you continue the signposted trail back to Myrkdalen centre. Children can join the fun trail quiz as you walk down. Just remember to pick up the quiz map and reply form at the Welcome Centre before getting on the chairlift.

Further hiking options

The nearest peak is mt. Finnbunuten, 1357 masl. Follow the signs and the blue markings. From Finnbunuten you have panoramic views over the mountains in Voss and Vikafjellet mountain plateau. On clear days you can even spot the Folgefonna and Jostedalsbreen glaciers in the distance.

An easier but no less beautiful route is the one going to Mørkvesstølen, an idyllic mountain farm. You can opt to walk further up to the small mountain lake Svortetjørnet or stop for a refreshing bath in the river along the trail.

When hiking, remember that the weather can change fast. Bring an extra layer of clothes and a windproof jacket, in addition to food and drink.
