Nyvågar Rorbuhotell

Nyvågar Rorbuhotell is idyllically located in the area of Storvågan near Kabelvåg and Svolvær, which used to be an important trade post. Nowadays, you are welcome to stay in the comfortable and spacious fishing huts called “rorbuer”, modernised to a hotel standard. In addition, you may relax in our spa, enjoy a nice meal in our restaurant, and taste aquavit in The Aquavit Loft Bar.

Stay in Nyvågar’s traditional rorbu cabins

At Nyvågar Rorbuhotell you will wake up to the sound and the smell of the sea. The 30 spacious cabins, traditionally called rorbu, offer guests great insight into the history and traditions of the Lofoten Islands. They are small 50 m² fishing cabins, split on two levels. All of them offer two bedrooms with a total of four beds, private bathrooms with toilet and shower, kitchenette, as well as a dining room with space for six people. The kitchens are equipped with a stove, kettle and fridge. WiFi, bed linen, towels and cleaning service are also included.

You may book an extra bed in advance for NOK 400 per night, incl. breakfast.

Enjoy genuine North-Norwegian hospitality in Nyvågar Rorbuhotell’s charming restaurant. Chef Andre loves creating meals inspired by the surrounding nature and uses local produce with an international twist. The restaurant’s seaside location means fresh seafood all year.

The Aquavit Loft Bar has the largest selection of aquavit in the world. Enjoy a good drink and stories about Norwegian aquavit. Of course, other drinks are available if aquavit is not your cup of tea.

Accessibility: None of the cabins are facilitated for electric wheelchairs, and all bedrooms are located on the second floor. The reception and restaurant are located on the ground floor with accessible toilets.

Dogs: Dogs are allowed into a few of our cabins. An additional cleaning fee of NOK 350,- will apply. Booking in advance is necessary.

Driving instructions:

  • From Harstad/Evenes Airport: follow Rv833 to E10, further from E10 to Kabelvåg and Storvåganveien. Approx. 170 km.
  • From Leknes Airport: drive onto E10 and follow the road all the way to Kabelvåg and Storvåganveien. Approx. 65 km
  • From Bodø Airport: follow the Rv80 to Terminalveien, take the ferry from Bodø - Moskenes (the transition takes 3 hours 15 minutes), drive onto E10 and follow the road all the way to Nyvågar Rorbuhotell. Approx. 220 km.
  • From Sweden: take the train from Sweden to Norway. There are day- and night-trains from Stockholm to Kiruna to Narvik. In Narvik you can rent a car (3 hours) or take bus no. 300 (3.5 hours) towards Lofoten.
