The Salmon Festival in Lærdal
The Salmon Festival combines outdoor experiences, expert content and culture in the very heart of salmon country. Spanning three days, the programme offers activities for every age—from fly-fishing workshops and “spawning walks” to sushi night and live music.
Celebrate the salmon this autumn
Experience a weekend devoted to wild salmon and life along the river. The festival serves up everything from spawning walks, fly-fishing workshops and a nature trail to market stalls, concerts, talks and a clean-up along the riverbanks.
Friday opens with a welcome, followed by live music, an evening of storytelling and a sushi meal.
Saturday is packed with daytime activities for the whole family, and in the evening we gather for a concert with Tønes and a late-night “Spawning Party” with DJ Trym Ramstad.
The festival concludes on Sunday with brunch at Laksen Café & Bakery and a final spawning walk for those who want to learn more about the salmon life-cycle.
Most of the programme is free and open to everyone, but the evening events (18+ only) require a day-pass or full festival pass. The entire festival is held in Norwegian and welcomes both locals and visitors interested in nature, salmon culture and local food.
The exhibition at the Wild Salmon Centre is open all weekend with free admission.
