About The Fjords

We take guests out on some of Norway’s best-known fjords. Along the way, they can experience the landscape up close, while we develop vessels and experiences with care for the places we visit and the people who live there.

The Fjords

The Fjords brings together maritime expertise and tourism, offering experiences on the Nærøyfjord, Geirangerfjord and Oslofjord. The company was founded in 2015 by Flåm AS, now Norway’s best AS, and Fjord1. Norway’s best Group AS has been its sole owner since May 2024.

We develop fjord experiences around the places we visit. That means thinking about the vessels we use, the people who welcome guests on board and our partnerships with local businesses along the fjords.

Designed for the fjord experience

Our passenger catamarans were designed and built in Norway by Brødrene Aa in Hyen. Their shape takes inspiration from the steep zigzag paths that wind up the fjord slopes. In a similar way, the walkways on board lead guests between different levels and viewpoints.

Large panoramic windows and open outdoor areas give you views throughout the journey. Step out on deck to feel the fjord air and take in the landscape, or enjoy the scenery through the windows from inside.

Accessible design

Accessibility has been an important part of designing the catamarans. Wide walkways, ramps and handrails make it easier to move around on board with a wheelchair or pushchair, or if you have reduced mobility. The design gives more guests the chance to find a viewpoint that suits them.

You’ll also find food and drink from local suppliers on board.

Vessels designed for the fjords

Several of our catamarans run fully or partly on electricity. Future of The Fjords and Legacy of The Fjords are fully electric, while Vision of The Fjords is a hybrid vessel that can run on electric power. The newest addition, Spring of The Fjords, will become fully electric during 2026. The vessels therefore use different propulsion, battery and charging systems.

When a vessel runs on electricity, its motor produces no exhaust during electric operation, and there is less engine noise. For guests, that leaves more room for the sounds of the fjord: waterfalls, waves and birds along the shore.

The vessels’ design also takes into account the waves they create as they sail. Both the technology and the design play a part in creating enjoyable experiences on the fjords.
