A visual journey through light and landscape
Experience the Arctic through the eyes of a nature photographer in this atmospheric photo and film experience at the old Flåm cinema.
Over 23 minutes, you are invited on a sensory journey through the seasons of the North. Experience the soft light of the magical "blue hour," the raw power of winter storms, and the northern lights dancing across the polar sky. As the darkness relents, the sun returns, marking the start of a new season filled with life, color, and anticipation.
The journey continues through the awakening of spring and into the Arctic summer, where the midnight sun bathes the landscape in a warm, golden light. When autumn arrives, nature changes character once more before the silence and darkness of winter gradually descend upon the land.
Arctic by Light combines photography, film, and music into an immersive experience that lets you feel nature’s shifting moods throughout a full year in the Arctic. Each guest creates their own journey through the images, light, and sounds.

About the photographer
Michael Ulriksen is a nature photographer and writer based in Narvik. For more than 25 years, he has documented landscapes, natural phenomena, and stories from Northern Norway through photos, film, and text. His work is characterized by a strong connection to nature and an ability to convey moods, light, and moments that often go unnoticed.
Through Arctic by Light, he shares his personal encounter with Arctic nature—from silent winter landscapes and dramatic storms to the aurora borealis, spring light, and endless summer nights under the midnight sun. The result is a visual narrative that invites the audience to experience nature through the photographer's own discoveries and perspectives.
