First class cruise on the Nærøyfjord

Our modern vessels are designed to maximize the sightseeing experience. They are fully electrical with no noise or emissions disrupting the atmosphere of peace and tranquillity. Here you will get the feeling of gliding through the fjord, very different from what you experience on the more traditional passenger vessels.

Tall panoramic windows give a full view to the marvellous landscape of the calm fjord, tall mountains, and beautiful waterfalls when sitting inside the lounges.

Universal design

The walkways outside are inspired by the winding trails going up the steep mountains next to the fjord. There is at least 1 meter railing for all passengers, giving you plenty of space to enjoy the view. The full universal layout means everyone can get around the ship inside and outside as they wish.

Route changes may occur

Due to the raw and unpredictable nature of the Nærøyfjord, route changes may happen at short notice during the winter season.

Fjord cruise from Flåm or Gudvangen

You can begin your fjord cruise from either Flåm or Gudvangen. If you travel from Flåm, the vessel will begin its journey sailing through the idyllic Aurlandsfjord, before the boat continues through the narrow Nærøyfjord before arriving Gudvangen at the inner end.

The trip takes around two hours one way. When starting in Gudvangen, you go the opposite direction. To get back to your starting point, we recommend booking tickets for the corresponding shuttle bus.

Arrivals and destinations

  • Flåm
  • Aurland*
  • Undredal*
  • Dyrdal*
  • Styvi*
  • Gudvangen*

* Middle stops(*) must be booked before the boat departs from Flåm or Gudvangen. Without prior booking, the boat will not stop at these locations.

Would you like to start and end your journey in Flåm? Book this Fjord Cruise Package that includes bus transportation back to Flåm.

The UNESCO listed fjord landscape

West Norwegian Fjords - Nærøyfjord and Geirangerfjord have been enlisted on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2005. According to UNESCO, the two fjords are considered as archetypical fjord landscapes which have more or less been untouched in modern times and among the most scenically outstanding anywhere.

The fjord has mostly stayed untouched in modern times and no road connections means the only way to properly explore it is by boat. From the fjord cruise you will have first class views to the spectacular landscape with old farms and idyllic fjord villages which has stayed the same for centuries.

A sustainable choice

Future of The Fjords is fully electrical, meaning it minimizes its environmental impact on the UNESCO listed fjord. Being powered by batteries also mean there is no noise pollution, to the benefit for passengers and wildlife alike.

It takes approx. 20 minutes to charge the batteries at the quays in Gudvangen and Flåm, and the dock in Gudvangen doubles as charging station and storage of grey and brown water from the boat.

Audioguide

It is quiet on board the ships. This is one of the many advantages of electric power. You can choose if you prefer to listen to the sounds of nature or if you would like to enjoy all the stories from the Nærøyfjord told in the guiding app Guide To Go.

Download the Nærøyfjord Guide here.

This is how you do it

Open the link with your smartphone to download the app “Guide To Go”. When you have done this, search for the correct route – in this case, Nærøyfjorden. You can choose between; English, German, French, Italian, Spanish and Norwegian. We recommend that you allow background location services to ensure that the guiding will be timed perfectly.

The content in the app is based on geografical zones, which means that you will hear different stories as you sail through the fjord. You do not have to do anything but enjoy the landscape and the stories told. You can also watch the screens on board which shows our position and photos from the places we sail by.

Silence is a big part of the experience for many passengers. We therefore ask you to use your headset while enjoying the guiding.

Don’t hesitate to ask members of our crew if there is anything in particular that you are interested in!
