The idyllic mountain lake Svortetjødn is beautifully located in the high mountain terrain and invites you to a refreshing dip on warm summer days.

Svortetjødn
  1. If you start from Myrkdalen Hotel, the hike is 7.2 kilometres. Walk past Myrkdalsstovo and follow the gravel road for 600 meters to Helgatun.
  2. Follow the path uphill for 1.1 kilometres to the trail junction. Turn right and walk 300 meters uphill to Vetlebotn and the start of the Kari Traa range.
  3. Walk up the gravel road for 2.2 kilometres and turn right 50 meters before you reach the top station of the Storhaug Express.
  4. Walk along a small pond before turning left. Cross both riverbeds and follow the sheep track/path on the right side of the river down to Mørkvestølen.
  5. From the mountain farm, head northwest up the valley. After about 1.2 km, it levels out a bit. Turn left and into the idyllic Svortetjødn.

Tips: Half-day trip to Svortetjødn

Take the summer chairlift to reduce the distance to 3.8 km and make it a half-day trip.

The summer chairlift operates every day from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM until and including August 21st.

HAVE A NICE TRIP!
