Restaurant Skard | Narvik, 656 masl
A restaurant where the views, nature and Arctic flavours take centre stage. Take the cable car up for a special dinner, a glass of wine, lunch with friends or drinks after work above the town. Hiking boots or a tie, you’re welcome either way.
The New Fjellheisrestauranten
In January 2027, a completely redesigned restaurant opens at the upper cable car station, 656 metres above sea level. Restaurant Skard transforms the former Fjellheisrestauranten, ready for a new chapter on the mountain while keeping what matters most: the location, the views and the closeness to nature.
A name rooted in the landscape
The name Skard comes from the landscape around us. In Norwegian, a skard is a natural gap between mountains, a place that connects one landscape and elevation with another. The name is short, rooted in Northern Norway and down to earth. It reflects what Restaurant Skard aims to be: a meeting place between fjord and mountain, nature and town life, the rugged and the refined.
Bold, honest flavours without the fuss
In the kitchen, the story begins in the same landscape. We source ingredients from local farmers, fishers, cheesemakers and producers, letting the northern seasons help shape what goes on your plate.
Here, flavours are bold, honest and unpretentious, with respect for the ingredients, the craft and the people behind them. Arctic ingredients, prepared with skill, curiosity and just the right lack of fuss.
Please note: The images are illustrations. Photos of the restaurant will be added once the renovation is complete.

Hiking boots or a tie
Restaurant Skard is about more than food. It’s also about the place, the weather, the light and the feeling of being warm and cosy in the midst of it all.
Snow sweeping sideways past the windows. A glass of wine as the evening sun lingers above the fjord. The northern lights suddenly dancing across the sky. A sea of fog below the mountain, the midnight sun refusing to set, or rain beating against the windows while warmth and conversation fill the room.
Come in hiking boots or a tie. Take the cable car up for a special dinner. Drop in after your last ski run. Meet colleagues for drinks after work, gather friends for lunch or book a table simply because the views, food and company deserve an evening out of the ordinary.
Restaurant Skard follows the cable car’s opening hours, making it easy to enjoy life on the mountain, whether you’re coming straight from the slopes, leaving the office or simply looking for good food with Narvik at your feet.
