Cross-Country Skiing in Narvik

From snow-covered forests to wide-open mountain landscapes, with views of fjords and majestic peaks. In Narvik, it's not just the skiing that leaves a lasting impression, but everything that surrounds you.

Spectacular Nature Experiences at Your Own Pace

Narvik offers cross-country skiing experiences that are anything but ordinary. Here, between the fjords and mountains, vast natural landscapes and a diverse network of trails invite you to enjoy everything from short family outings to longer adventures in the high mountains. And the best part? You don't have to venture far from the town centre before you can strap on your skis and leave everyday life behind.

On the Kobberstad trail, just a short distance from Narvik Ski Resort, you can enjoy cross-country skiing with views of the town and surrounding mountains. At Ankenesfjellet, a varied network of trails winds through forests and mountain terrain, while Herjangsfjellet offers wide-open landscapes, sweeping views and the feeling of having the mountains almost entirely to yourself. Further south, in Ballangen, you'll also find excellent cross-country skiing areas for those looking to explore more of the region.

But there's more to cross-country skiing in Narvik than the trails themselves. Here, north of the Arctic Circle, nature shapes every experience. In the depths of winter, you can ski beneath a star-filled sky, perhaps with the Northern Lights dancing overhead. As the sun returns, the landscape gradually transforms in the distinctive Arctic light. And as spring approaches, long, bright days bring snow-covered mountains and unforgettable skiing with views of the fjords.

The weather is part of the adventure. One day might bring calm winter conditions, with crisp snow crunching beneath your skis, while the next delivers the raw, invigorating forces of Northern Norway's coastal climate. The contrasts are striking, and no two days are ever quite the same. Perhaps that's exactly what makes winter up here so special.

No Skis? No Problem.

At Narvik Ski Resort, we offer cross-country ski rentals for both children and adults. Whether you're introducing your children to Norway's skiing traditions, enjoying a leisurely outing through the winter landscape or setting off on a longer adventure in the mountains, we'll help you find the right equipment.
