Nordic Ski Experience
Discover the traditional way Norwegians have traveled through the mountains for generations.
Information
The Nordic Ski Experience is a guided tour that takes you into peaceful, snow-covered landscapes just outside Myrkdalen. Using monutain skis (fjellski in Norwegian) – wider, more stable cross-country skis made for ungroomed terrain – which allows us to not be limited by where theres already ski tracks. We will follow ski trails when possible, or make our own tracks through fresh snow.
Along the way, your guide will share insight about the landscape, and we'll take breaks to enjoy the views of snow-covered forests and mountains. We'll also pause for a warm cup of traditonal gløgg (a spiced Norwegian drink) and a snack in the great outdoors. Whether you're a curious beginner or a nature-loving skier, this is your chance to experience skiing the way Norwegians have done it for generations.

Read moreWhat is the difference between Ski Touring and the Nordic Ski Experience?
On a Ski Touring trip, we use alpine touring skis. The tour begins by ascending towards a summit, using climbing skins on the skis to prevent sliding backwards. Once we reach the top, the skins are removed, and we ski down.
The Nordic Ski Experience is different. Here, we don’t aim to climb peaks. Instead, we use lighter backcountry skis without skins, and there is no downhill descent. While ski touring can be thrilling—and for some, a little intimidating—the Nordic Ski Experience offers a calmer, more relaxed way to enjoy the winter landscape.
